From the ring to your corner

My story, how I coach — and why it doesn't matter how fit you are today.

My professional background

I'm a former professional boxer. Years of competing taught me things you can't pick up from a fitness course: how to read a body under fatigue, how to build a fighter's engine, and how much of training is actually about the head rather than the hands.

When I stepped away from competition, I took that same standard of preparation and pointed it at something different — helping ordinary people get genuinely fit. The 1-to-1 coaching I do today is the result.

Where I coach — Genesis Strength and Performance, Derby

I run all my sessions out of Genesis Strength and Performance in Derby — a proper training environment with the free weights, rig space and boxing kit I need to do the job right. No queuing for machines, no posing, just space to work.

If you're local to Derby and you've been meaning to start, this is a straightforward place to do it.

Beginners to pros — everyone's welcome

This is the part people worry about most, so let me clear it up: you do not need to be fit, coordinated or experienced to book a session. I coach complete beginners who have never thrown a punch just as often as I work with competitive athletes.

I adapt every session to the person in front of me. Technique comes before intensity, and I set the pace by what you can actually handle that day.

How I coach

Technique first

Do it right, then do it hard. Good movement keeps you training long term.

Honest feedback

I'll always tell you what's working, what isn't, and what to do next.

No ego

Friendly, patient coaching. I won't shout at anyone for being new.

Real progress

I track your sessions so improvements are measurable, not just felt.
